SOSA aligned Ethernet switch/router for military and aerospace applications

CHATSWORTH, Calif. Rugged embedded computing provider Aitech announced the launch of its U-C6850 10/40 GbE fully managed switch/router, a high-speed, flexible, and secure Ethernet connectivity solution that is aligned to the Sensor Open Systems Architecture, or SOSA, Technical Standard.
According to the company announcement, the U-C6850 -- aimed at data-intensive defense applications -- is based on an advanced and flexible Layer2/Layer3 (L2/L3) Ethernet switch and packet processor and enables up to 320 Gb/sec of total switching capacity, through configurations supporting up to 8x 40 GbE or 32x 10 GbE Ethernet interfaces. By enabling high-speed data exchange across compute, sensors and communications networks, the new U-C6850 enables high-speed, low-latency video and data processing capabilities across modern sensor fusion architectures.
Additionally, the company states, the U-C6850 supports SWaP-C [size, weight, power, and cost] optimization by delivering high bandwidth and port density while consuming relatively low power levels, which means that defense contractors and system integrators can maximize performance while minimizing size, weight, power, and life cycle costs.
