The Pratt & Whitney division of United Technologies Corp. (UTC) was awarded a potential four-year, $325.2 million contract for aircraft maintenance equipment for the F-35 fighter aircraft. The contract, announced by the Defense Department, calls for UTC to provide material and support equipment for depot maintenance facilities, as well as non-recurring sustainment activities, supplies, services, and planning for depot activations.

Anduril Industries launched the Interceptor unmanned system as part of the Lattice AI counter Unmanned Aerial System (cUAS) solution intended to detect and interdict unmanned aircraft or autonomous unmanned systems. This system brings Anduril technology to the cUAS mission, providing force protection for military personnel and installations or critical infrastructure.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract includes production, sustainment, and engineering technical services in support of its Embedded GPS Inertial Navigation System Modernization (EGI/EGI-M) system.

Lockheed Martin announced the Sikorsky HH-60W Combat Rescue Helicopter (CRH) program achieved a Milestone C decision from the U.S. Air Force, which moves the program into low-rate initial production. The CRH will perform critical combat search and rescue and personnel recovery operations for all U.S. military services.

C&L Aerospace has purchased the Beechjet 400 rotable parts program from Global Parts. As part of the transaction, C&L has acquired Global’s entire Beechjet rotable inventory. All parts from the program are now stocked in C&L’s Bangor, Maine warehouse and available for sale or exchange.

Epirus Systems, a maker of software-defined electromagnetic pulse (EMP) technology designed to take down dangerous unmanned aircraft systems (UASs), has won a new type of Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract from the U.S. Air Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) and its AFWERX technology accelerator program. The AFWERX program contracts with and empowers companies to engage industry stakeholders and fine-tune technologies at an earlier stage to streamline innovation to the warfighter.

In May I wrote here about the Boeing 737 MAX situation up to that time. Boeing was optimistically predicting the MAX to be up and flying by August. But August has come and gone and the predictions became September…October…December and even now the latest talk is January of 2020 or beyond. Southwest doesn’t plan to be able to use the MAX until Jan. 5. Air Canada says Jan. 8, recent reports state.
