PRODUCT OF THE WEEK: nVent SCHROFF’s 4U LHX Air-to-Liquid-Heat Exchanger

This week’s product, the Acromag nVent SCHROFF 4U LHX Air-to-Liquid-Heat Exchanger, provides multiple levels of cooling performance, enabling users to achieve higher computing density in new racks and existing applications. The commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) ruggedized version can meet the requirements of military naval and land-based defense applications.

The 4U LHX’s cooling capabilities keep mission-critical electronics from overheating caused by the performance of artificial intelligence (AI) chips & GPUs, where conventional methods of in-rack forced air or air conditioning are often not enough. Its COTS-based architecture, enables configuration flexibility while reducing development time and lead times.

Advanced Cooling Features

Provides up to 7.5 kW heat dissipation using integrated fan units
- Can be configured to run in low energy, then the device can achieve low thermal load with low noise.
- If higher cooling is desired, 2 LHX units can be installed in one cabinet to achieve up to a 15 kW thermal load.
Designed for front-to-rear airflow, aligned with standard rack cooling architectures
Physical separation of intake and exhaust air paths to prevent thermal recirculation
Cooling positioned close to heat-generating components, enabling fast response to thermal load changes
Supports dynamic adjustment of liquid flow and airflow for stable operating conditions

General Features

Complies with EMC requirements, ensuring reliable operation in sensitive electronic systems
Designed for tool-less or simplified mounting in standard 19" environments
Designed to be retrofittable into a 19” cabinet with a minimum depth of 800 mm
Integrated controller with intelligent fan speed regulation based on thermal demand
Liquid use: Water 100%, or PG mixtures up to 50% or EG mixtures up to 50%
Equipped with temperature sensors at both intake (cold) and exhaust (warm) air zones for accurate thermal profiling
Enables local and remote monitoring and control through system interfaces
Power input is 100 ~ 240 VAC power.
