SYDNEY, Australia. DroneShield is expanding its open counter-drone architecture to integrate AIM Defence’s Fractl high-power laser effector with its DroneSentry operational platform, the company announced in a statement.

The integration is intended to add a directed-energy engagement option to an architecture that includes radio-frequency (RF) sensing, electronic warfare, artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled software, sensor fusion, and command-and-control capabilities, the statement reads. DroneShield says DroneSentry will be interoperable with Fractl so operators can coordinate those sensing and defeat technologies from a common operating environment.

AIM Defence designed Fractl to interoperate with external sensors and command-and-control platforms for counter-drone engagements, according to the statement. Initial work between the companies will focus on selected military and government users and explore interoperability, demonstrations, and potential deployment opportunities involving the two systems.
