Loitering munition launched from truck-mounted container system by Rheinmetall

COCHSTEDT, Germany. Rheinmetall launched its FV-014 loitering munition from a containerized launcher mounted on an HX truck during stationary and moving tests, the company announced in a statement.
The July 2026 demonstration took place at the German Aerospace Centre's National Test Centre for Unmanned Aerial Systems and included simulated mission profiles and attack runs, the statement reads.
The FV-014 combines reconnaissance, target identification, and strike functions and has a stated range of up to 100 kilometers and flight endurance of as much as 70 minutes, Rheinmetall says. The electrically powered system weighs about 22 kilograms, including a payload of approximately six kilograms.
The munition uses onboard sensors and autonomous functions intended to maintain operation during Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) interference, while a ground station keeps an operator in the control loop, according to the company.
Up to 18 FV-014 systems can be carried in a 20-foot version of Rheinmetall's Containerized Missile Launcher, which can operate from stationary sites, vehicles, or naval vessels, the statement reads.
The launcher can connect with command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence (C4I) systems and supports local, radio-linked, or satellite-based launch control, the company says.
