Mojave STOL via General Atomics

POCHEON-SI, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea. General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) and Hanwha Aerospace completed flight operations with the Mojave Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) uncrewed aircraft from a simulated battlefield environment, including landing on and taking off from a rough maneuver trail used by Republic of Korea Army tanks and artillery vehicles, GA-ASI announced in a statement.

The demonstration took place during the Defense Drone Technology Exhibition and used the runway at the ROK Army 513th Aviation Battalion and the Seungjin Training Field in Pocheon-si, the company says. Controlled from ground-control stations, Mojave took off from a conventional runway, flew to the training area, landed on the maneuver trail, took off again, resumed operations, and returned to the aviation battalion.

The aircraft was configured with dual weapon rails and inert payloads for the demonstration, according to the statement. GA-ASI says the STOL configuration is intended to support operations from short and unimproved surfaces. Critical Design Review for the production Mojave STOL is expected in November, with first flight planned for 2027.
