Lockheed Martin AEHF satellite connects international allies

SUNNYVALE. The Netherlands are the most recent international partner to communicate via the Lockheed Martin Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite. The protected communications satellite transports the transmission of tactical military communications, such as battlefield maps, real-time video, and targeting data to national leaders all over the world, on ground, sea, and air platforms.
“AEHF’s ability to securely connect allies together is vital to current and future operations,” says VP of Protected Communications Systems at Lockheed Martin, Mark Calassa. “We are hard at work delivering this global capability: Our fixed-price production builds are on schedule, we will launch a third satellite next week, and those users testing the system are extremely satisfied with this leap forward in capability.”
Lockheed Martin is contracted to deliver six AEHF satellites as well as the Mission Control Segment. AEHF-1 and -2 are already in orbit, and AEHF-3 is prepared for a September 18 launch. AEHF-4 is underway. All satellites are produced at Lockheed Martin’s facility in Sunnyvale, Calif.
