LA DEFENSE,France. U.S. Air Force officials ordered three Deployable ? Instrument Landing Systems (D-ILS) from Thales. The order is part of a contract announced in August 2015.
In addition to delivering the D-ILS systems, the order includes establishing a production line at Thales’ facility in Clarksburg, Maryland. The company will modify its Clarksburg facility to be able to manufacture one system per month starting next year.
Officials says, the systems offers improved reliability, maintainability, and supportability over legacy deployable Precision Approach Radar systems.
