Augmented-reality app for space situational awareness gets funding boost from USAF

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. Intelligent-systems developer Charles River Analytics (CRA) has received additional funding from the U.S. Air Force to further develop its Space Operation Visualizations Leveraging Augmented Reality (SOLAR) app, which will enable users to quickly develop situational awareness to maintain critical space assets.
(See story on original announcement here.)
As part of the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) Hallmark program, SOLAR falls under the CRA "PICASSA" analytic tool set; PICASSA is aimed at improving threat detection in space through probabilistic modeling and simulation.
The SOLAR app uses augmented- and mixed-reality tools to enable space operators -- even those with minimal training in the reference models and reasoning behind PICASSA -- to easily understand and incorporate these outputs into their space situational awareness and course-of-action development workflow to arrive at decisions faster, with greater confidence.
