New 3.3V MIL-STD-1553 Dual Transceiver with Integrated Transformers from Holt Integrated Circuit
Press ReleaseJuly 16, 2020
Mission Viejo, CA – Holt Integrated Circuits today announced the introduction of HI-25850, a new 3.3V MIL-STD-1553 dual transceiver with integrated transformers. The device combines Holt’s recently announced HI-15850 MIL-STD-1553 transceiver IC with the required isolation transformers in a single package. The HI-15850 is identical to Holt’s HI-1585, with the added feature of 1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V compatible digital I/O.
At less than 15mm x 15mm in area and 4.4mm high when mounted, this new device, HI-25850, has the lowest height and footprint available on the market today and is an ideal choice for applications using cards with component height restrictions, such as PMC and XMC. The digital I/O feature also gives users flexibility to interface with a broader range of FPGAs, avoiding the use of level shifters and other additional circuitry.
This new device provides the same unique features of bus tail-off compensation and receiver output pulse extension as HI-15850 or HI-1585. Tail-off compensation provides a means to actively compensate for bus tail-off, which is an undesirable temporary DC offset on the terminal’s bus stub resulting from non-optimal board design and layout. The optional receiver output pulse extension feature ensures receiver output pulse widths remain above 180ns, improving receiver sensitivity for designs operating close to the minimum receiver input response amplitude and ensuring proper decoding.
“Combining dual transceivers and transformers in a single package provides significant space and cost reduction, making this new device the perfect choice for PMC or XMC cards” said Anthony Murray, Director of Marketing Communications at Holt. “In addition, the optional low-logic digital I/O interface enables a broader choice of FPGA selection.”
The devices are available in industrial (−40oC to +85oC) and extended (−55oC to +125oC) temperature ranges. Samples are available on request.
