WASHINGTON. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) -- a department within the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) -- has notified the U.S. Congress that it has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the government of Italy regarding two Gulfstream G550 aircraft with airborne intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare (AISREW) mission systems and related equipment for an estimated cost of $500 million.
According to a news release from the DSCA, the proposed sale is intended to support U.S. foreign policy and national security by helping to improve the security of a NATO ally. It also supports and enhances Italy's ongoing efforts to modernize its airborne ISR and EW capability and is aimed at boosting interoperability between the U.S. Air Force and the Italian air force.
The principal contractor under the agreement will be L3Harris (Greenville, Texas).
