OpenVPX board released by Eurotech at Embedded World

NUREMBERG, Germany. Engineers at Eurotech released their first OpenVPX board at the Embedded World show in Nuremberg, Germany this week. The CPU-111-10 is a rugged 6U VPX single-board computer (SBC) that has a quad-core Intel L5408 Xeon processor and 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch in rugged conduction and convection-cooled versions.

VPX fills the need for faster connectivity with flexible topologies on the VPX backplane, says Pierfrancesco Zuccato, Eurotech corporate product manager for boards and stationary systems. VPX will be ideal for applications that require high-speed computing not only in defense, but in industrial machine vision applications as well, he adds.

The new devices supports full-mesh backplane data layer interconnectivity for as many as eight SBCs integrated into a single chassis. The device meets the OpenVPX payload module profile MOD6-PAY-4F2T-12.2.2.4 with four fat pipes (10 GBase-BX4) and two thin pipes (1000Base-T).

The Eurotech SBC provides real-time data fusion and analysis with multimodal source streams such as video, audio, and sensors and has massive data reconstruction, analysis and filtering for 3D applications.

The air-cooled CPU-111-10 units and RTMs are now available with conduction-cooled versions coming soon. For more information, visit http://www.eurotech.com/en/products/CPU-111-10.
