Kratos tests, intros UAS with enhanced capabilities
NewsAugust 11, 2017
SAN DIEGO. Kratos Defense & Security Solutions recently completed a series of flight tests on the next version of its UTAP-22 Mako unmanned aerial system (UAS) that was first introduced and demonstrated in late 2015.
Kratos has upgraded the Mako with a suite of mission systems that are more typically employed on manned aircraft but now are integrated with the unmanned Mako drone system.
The Mako drones, highly maneuverable UASs, are designed to function as wingmen to manned aircraft in contested airspace, carrying and deploying weapons or surveillance systems while flying at near-supersonic speeds.
