NATIONAL HARBOR, Maryland. AMETEK Abaco Systems unveiled a new single-board computer in a 3U VPX form factor designed to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in edge computing applications at the MOSA Industry & Government Summit.

The SBC3901 is powered by the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin, which includes a 12-core ARM Cortex-A78 CPU and an NVIDIA Ampere architecture GPU boasting 2048 CUDA cores and 64 Tensor Cores. This setup delivers up to 248 TOPS of AI performance, making the SBC3901 suitable for real-time GPU processing, deep learning, and AI inferencing across various applications, according to a company statement.

The company says the SBC3901 is a “significant advancement” in AI edge computing, particularly for compute-intensive applications in a rugged form factor. Key features of the SBC3901 include its alignment with the Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA) Technical Standard slot profile, high-performance computing capabilities, and rugged design that adheres to MIL-STD-810 standards, the statement reads.

The board's connectivity options include 1 x 100GbE and 1 x 25GbE data planes, plus a 10GbE control plane, facilitating high-speed data transfers.

Additionally, the SBC3901 supports enhanced AI performance with integrated deep learning and vision accelerators, video encoding and decoding capabilities, and options for extensive storage solutions – which is useful for sensor fusion, robotics, and autonomous systems, the statement adds.
