Airborne battle command system upgrades to Lockheed Martin's ATOMS

DENVER. The U.S. Air Force tasked Lockheed Martin to upgrade part of the Theater Battle Management Core System (TBMCS) to the Air Tasking Order Management System (ATOMS), a battle command system that allows commanders to execute air-tasking orders, deploy air assets, and direct joint U.S. air operations.
ATOMS is replacing part TBMCS under the Air Force Command and Control Air Operations Suite (C2AOS) – Command and Control Information Services (C2IS).
Under this contract, engineers at Lockheed Martin will update over 250 air-tasking requirements to improve interoperability between ATOMS and other management systems, officials say. They will also enhance network-enabled warfare capabilities.
"This effort provides the warfighter with additional system to system interoperability to support their continually evolving mission,” says Dr. Rob Smith, vice president of C4ISR Systems for Lockheed Martin.
Airborne assets include the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps – including fighters, bombers, tankers, unmanned aerial vehicles, helicopters, and cruise missiles.
