Rugged wrist-worn computers on display at Embedded World

Remember Dick Tracy's wrist-watch TV? Engineers at Eurotech have channeled that little bit of science fiction into a wrist-worn computer that comes in three different versions including a rugged one for warfighters and it was on display this week at the Embedded World show in Nuremberg, Germany.
What surprised me most when I strapped it to my wrist (see picture) was how light the Zypad WR11XX is. The computer core weighs only 645 grams and the writs support part is 120 grams. The device is customizable based on mission requirements and even comes with button that can erase the hard drive if the writs computer should fall into the wrong hands, says Pierfrancesco Zuccato, Eurotech corporate product manager for boards and stationary systems. He's in the picture too.
Other specs of the computer include an operating temperature range of -20 to 60 degrees Celsius, virtual QWERTY keyboard on the screen, 128 MB of Flash memory, 256 MB of RAM, and color 3.5 inch TF touch screen display. The display is sunlight readable and has option for night vision capability.
