RESTON, Va. Engineering research company Leidos has won a contract worth $10.3 million from the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) for what the AFRL calls the Pulsed and Continuous Wave Innovation for Integration and Effects Research (PACIFIER) project.

Under the terms of the contract, Leidos will conduct research into enhanced experimental and predicative capabilities to address existing and emerging laser systems. It will also seek to quantify the effects of high-power continuous-wave lasers interacting with a variety of materials and targets.

Work on the PACIFIER contract will be performed at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, with an expected completion date of September 2025.
