AUSA 2019--WASHINGTON. Following conclusion of a recent third test launch of their ground-launched small diameter bomb (GLSDB) in September, Boeing and Saab now believe they have the data necessary to move the munition into production, company officials said at AUSA on Monday.

For the most recent test, GLSDB was launched from the Andøya Space Center in Andenes, Norway, in what were described as "challenging conditions" from a customized, fully autonomous launch platform, out to a range of 130 km (80 miles) at a predetermined target area in the ocean.

The test showed, said company officials, that their data was correct and the weapon hit the target precisely and that it could have hit a target that was even farther out; the test was also able to determine the effects of launching GLSDBs from a container, in terms of damage, test pressure, and incidental heat surplus.

AUSA attendees may visit Saab at Booth 2543 and Boeing at Booth 6026.
