Navy Enhanced Laser Guided Training Rounds contract won by Lockheed Martin

ARCHBALD, Pennsylvania. Lockheed Martin won a $25.8 million U.S. Navy contract to manufacture and deliver Enhanced Laser Guided Training Rounds (ELGTR) and also refurbish reusable shipping containers and provide the associated technical data, to eventually extend ELGTR production into late 2018.
This award is the last of four options under the 2013 $84.5 million ELGTR indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ) contract.
The U.S. Navy as well as 10 international partner countries use ELGTR for Paveway II Laser Guided Bomb training programs, says Joe Serra, precision guided systems program director at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.
A live-fire training solution for warfighters, the EGLTR emulates the flight characteristics of Paveway II laser-guided weapon systems and gives pilots the same data they would see during an actual mission. It is compatible with the AV-8B, F/A-18, F-16, and a variety of international aircraft.
Lockheed Martin engineers have produced more than 150,000 advanced training rounds for the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and international users.
