Collins Aerospace to serve as mission systems integrator for Army FVL project

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. Collins Aerospace has won a spot as one of three mission systems integrators for the U.S. Army's Joint Multi Role (JMR) Mission Systems Architecture Demonstration (MSAD) program.
The JMR MSAD program was set up to feed critical information to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) as it to develop a strategy for the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) program, which is expected to eventually replace the U.S. Army’s helicopters.
Under the agreement, Collins Aerospace will design and demonstrate the next generation of cyberhardened mission system architecture along with the model-based systems engineering tools and processes required to develop and integrate the avionics on FVL.
Dave Schreck, vice president and general manager for Military Avionics and Helicopters at Collins Aerospace, said of the win: “Collins Aerospace has been a pioneer in open systems architecture (OSA) for more than 30 years, such as CAAS avionics for the Army’s Special Operations fleet in 2001 and other pathfinder programs leading the way for OSA-based avionics upgrades on over 20 different aircraft types.”
The JMR MSAD program is set to wrap up in December 2020.
