CLEARWATER, Fla. Honeywell has signed a four-year, $99.1 million contract to help the U.S. Air Force (USAF) update the USAF's Embedded Global Positioning System/Inertial Navigation System (EGI-M).

Honeywell documents describe the EGI-M system as modular and based on open-systems architecture; it supports the rapid insertion of new capabilities into such military aircraft as the F-22 jet fighter and E-2D tactical airplane so that they can better operate in

GPS-denied environments.

According to information from the U.S. Department of Defense, Honeywell will provide engineering, manufacturing, and development services to the EGI-Modernization program under the sole-source contract.

Work under the terms of the contract is set to take place in Clearwater, Florida, through mid-2024.
