USSOCOM orders Harris Falcon III SDRs

MELBOURNE, FL/ROCHESTER, NY. The U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has placed a $36 million order with Harris Corporations for Falcon III wideband AN/PRC-117G manpack and Falcon III AN/ORC152A handheld radios. The order will accelerate the deployment of advanced wideband tactical communications systems, and provide Special Operations Forces with wireless broadband capabilities in battlefield conditions.
"Harris radios will enable Special Operations Forces to stay connected as a team, even when operating far from each other or a tactical operations center," says George Helm, President of the Department of Defense business unit at Harris RF Communications. "Our Falcon radios wirelessly extend the reach of network services such as situational awareness, e-mail, imagery, video, biometrics and Voice-over Internet Protocol."
Harris Falcon III radios are software-defined tactical radio systems that support Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) requirements. They support network-centric operations and are available in handheld, manpack, and vehicle configurations.
