Athena III is the newest incarnation of Diamond's highly popular Athena embedded SBC series, bringing you latest generation embedded computing and I/O technologies in a popular, compact form factor. Athena III provides CPU and data acquisition integrated onto a single board, giving you state of the art, rugged performance in a highly compact form factor with PC/104 expansion.

Athena III implements either a 1.6GHz Intel Atom E680T or 1GHz E640T CPU. An enhanced set of I/O ports is provided to support any application's requirements, including Gigabit Ethernet, SATA, 4 serial ports, and 4 USB 2.0 ports. The watchdog timer provides protection from software crashes and is programmable for delays up to 2 seconds.

Standard rugged features include soldered on-board memory, full -40ºC to +85ºC operating temperature, and fanless cooling. Athena III's backwards compatibility enables longer product lifecycles and simplifies technology refresh efforts.

The built-in PC/104 expansion bus enables Athena III to work with almost all Diamond Systems' data acquisition and communications modules, as well as hundreds of I/O boards from other vendors. The compact 4.2" x 4.5" form factor, slightly larger than PC/104, enables Athena III to include more features on a single board and still fit inside our Pandora enclosure system.

Athena III's data acquisition circuit includes professional quality A/D, D/A, and digital I/O backed with industry-leading autocalibration for increased measurement accuracy. The accompanying Universal Driver software simplifies application development for the most popular operating systems.
