Development phase of contract completed for LIG Nex1 radar programs

ASHBURN, Va. The Defense Solutions division at Curtiss-Wright announced the development phase completion of a contract from LIG Nex1 where they supplied to the Korean Army’s Next-Generation Local Air Defense Radar and Korean Air Force’s Long-Range Surveillance Radar programs its rugged COTS-based radar processing module technology.

Curtiss-Wright provided LIG Nex1 with its high performance OpenVPX modules including FPGA, single board computer, DSP, Network Switch, and FMC processing module products under this contract. The modules provide the pulse compression and beamforming processing for the radar’s signal processing system. Curtiss-Wright also provided its Gigabit Ethernet Network Switch module.

LIG Nex1 showed Multiple Digital Beamforming and Pulse Compression on Curtiss-Wright’s FPGA board and Radar signal processing algorithms on DSP and SBC modules during the development period that began in 2012. The use of FPGA board helped to reduce the number of required processing boards.
