SAN DIEGO. During a series of high-altitude and long-endurance exercises Northrop Grumman’s RQ-4 Global Hawk responded to external requests to dynamically alter its route flight and sensor functionality, demonstrating mission management control features in unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) without changes to the air vehicle software.
During the exercise, the Global Hawk interfaced with the U.S. Air Force Common Mission Control Center (CMCC) using the UAS Command and Control (C2) Initiative (UCI) message set that enables interoperability across multiple weapon systems.
"Northrop Grumman's Control Mission Management System [CMMS] team is proud to contribute to the standardization of command and control (C2) systems for multiple UAS," says Michael Leahy, program director, CMMS, Northrop Grumman.
