ORLANDO, FL. U.S. Army officials awarded Lockheed Martin a $111 million Performance Based Logistics (PBL) contract for Modernized Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (M-TADS/PNVS).

M-TADS/PNVS upgrades the U.S. Army’s TADS/PNVS, known as the “eyes of the Apache,” by modernizing the infrared sensors and associated electronics. M-TADS/PNVS enables Apache pilots to have advanced long-range, and electro-optical precision engagement capabilities.

The PBL contract drives reliability and maintainability improvements and reduces Operations and Support (O&S) costs. The contract contains a one-year base as well as three one-year options extending through the end of 2015. The total four-year contract is valued at $375 million.

“The M-TADS/PNVS PBL program has been credited with improving fleet readiness, reducing average flying hour cost and reducing the Army’s long-term inventory investment,” says Kathy Drysdale, chief of the Avionics and Radar division for the Apache Attack Helicopter.

“The PBL contract delivers a support solution that reduces costs when compared to earlier approaches, while also providing strong levels of performance and value to our customer,” says David Belvin, program director of Apache fire control programs at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control.
