Contract aims to improve aircrew helmet systems, pilot safety

CARBONDALE, Penn. Gentex Corporation -- which produces personal protection and situational awareness solutions for defense forces, emergency responders, and industrial personnel -- has won a three-year contract from Bristow Helicopters (Dyce, Scotland) to manage and perform maintenance on their U.K. inventory of Gentex?s ALPHA 900 Cross Platform Helmet Systems.

Bristow provides search-and-rescue (SAR) services to both private-sector companies and to the U.K. public sector on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.

Under the terms of the contract, Gentex will be responsible for the upkeep of the Bristow inventory of ALPHA 900 aircrew helmets. Support under the agreement includes technical services (helmet fitting, records management, and training) and sustainment support (preventative maintenance, repair, and spares inventory management).
