CARBONDALE, Pa. Gentex Corporation has signed an agreement with the U.S. Navy to design, develop, test, evaluate, and produce Laser Eye Protection (LEP) Threat Spectacles (including the prescription component) for use by fixed- and rotary wing aircrew who are exposed to laser threats.
The newly signed Gentex contract supports the Navy’s Laser Eye Protection Threat Spectacle Program and allows Gentex options for delivery of low rate initial production and full rate production units.
The laser-protective filter in the Gentex spectacles, says the company, use the latest laser eye protection materials developed for and tested by both the Naval Air Systems Command and U.S. Air Force/Air Force Research Lab advanced-technology development and demonstrator programs.
