Up until the year 2000, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) had been manufacturing a specific group of semiconductors for communication-based applications among varying industries including medical. From 2000 on, Rochester Electronics was appointed the fully authorized source by AMD to continue the support of the AM7969 (in conjunction with the 7968) TAXIchip Receiver (available in 28-pin PLCC, DIP, LCC, custom packages and ROHS compliant) communication devices to match the original form, fit and function. Rochester has since successfully re-created the 7968/7969 to provide lifetime support through their Extension-of-Life® solutions.
