SUNNYVALE, Calif. ORBCOMM and Lockheed Martin officials signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore future satellite and hybrid satellite/cellular machine-to-machine (M2M) opportunities primarily in the U.S. government sector and select international markets.

Under the MOU, Lockheed Martin plans to leverage ORBCOMM’s M2M portfolio in areas such as space-enabled solutions that could provide satellite connectivity and services for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

Collaboration may include joint business development, portfolio evolution, and allied partnerships, officials say.
