FAIRFAX, VA. Boeing subsidiary Argon ST will continue to supply the U.S. Navy with AN/SLQ-25C torpedo defense countermeasures under a recently exercised option on the system’s contract. Under the $8 million contract extension, eight new AN/SLQ-25C systems will provide countermeasures that imitate a vessel’s propulsion system to draw incoming torpedoes away from Navy surface ships.

ST. LOUIS. U.S. Navy officials have tasked Boeing to maintain aircrew training devices for six aircraft variants as part of a five-year, $56 million contract. The covers training devices for P-3C, EP-3, P-8A, EA-6B, EA-18G, and SH-60B aircraft.

Boeing has announced that it successfully tested an electromagnetic pulse missile capable of disabling electronics without affecting structures. The Counter-electronics High-powered Advanced Missile Project (CHAMP) was tested by a Boeing Phantom Works/U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory Directed Energy Directorate team on October 16 at the Utah Test and Training Range.

KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) engineers began operating a new Boeing-built sodium guide star laser on a telescope at Kirtland Air Force Base. The 50-watt laser will enable AFRL scientists to enhance their acquisition of detailed images of objects in Earth orbit.
