Radar-guided MK-15 systems to get upgrade with $344 million Raytheon contract

TUCSON, Ariz. Raytheon Missiles & Defense has signed a contract with the U.S. Navy worth a potential $344.4 million to update the radar-guided systems for the MK-15 close-in weapons systems (CIWS) for both the Navy and the government of South Korea.
According to information from Raytheon, naval forces use the MK-15 "Phalanx" system at sea to counter antiship missiles and close-in threats that have pierced other lines of defense, while on land, forces use the system to detect and defeat rocket, artillery, and mortar systems.
Work under the contract will be performed largely in Kentucky, California, and Pennsylvania, with work continuing through September 2026 if all options are exercised.
