Radar upgrade bid for F-15 aircraft awarded to Raytheon under potential $3.12 billion contract

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. Raytheon Technologies -- Intelligence and Space Division -- was awarded a contract worth as much as $3.12 billion to build upgraded radar systems for advanced versions of the F-15 Eagle jet fighter, according to an announcement from the F-15 Division Contracts Branch, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (Ohio).
Under the terms of the indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract, Raytheon is tasked with building, upgrading, and supporting the AN/APG-82 active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar system to work in tandem with the F-15's weapons systems.
The Boeing-built F-15EX -- the first batch of which are set to arrive at Eglin Air Force Base (Florida) by fiscal 2023 -- features upgraded electronic warfare (EW) systems and an open-architecture approach, which will enable faster upgrades and additions to the aircraft.
