Long Range Anti-Ship Missile completes third flight test

ORLANDO, Fla. U.S. Navy and Lockheed Martin officials collaborated to complete a third controlled flight test of the company?s Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM), this time launching from the Self Defense Test Ship at Pt. Mugu Sea Range, California.

The flight test demonstrated a pre-planned low-altitude profile collecting aerodynamics agility data. The missile was able to load mission data using the modified Tactical Tomahawk Weapon Control System (TTWCS+), align mission data with the ship, and launch from the MK 41 Vertical Launch System (VLS).

Lockheed Martin invested internal funds to support this test providing an operational LRASM and refurbishing the Navy’s Self Defense Test Ship MK 41 VLS.
