AUSA 2019--WASHINGTON. Unmanned aircraft system (UAS) maker AeroVironment officially launched its Puma LE (Long Endurance) small UAS at the AUSA 2019 Exposition & Conference.

According to company officials, the Puma LE builds on the company's combat-proven Puma AE with enhanced capabilities, increased range, and expanded payload capacity: The new UAS has an integrated Mantis i45 gimbaled EO/IR sensor and NVG-visible laser illuminator, giving the warfighter much better imagery for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) during day, night, and low-light operations on land and in maritime environments.

The small craft -- weighing in at just 22.5 pounds -- is launchable by hand or bungee; in addition, the UAS's on-board batteries provide 5.5 hours of flight endurance, with an operational range of nearly 40 miles when used with AeroVironment’s Long-Range Tracking Antenna (LRTA).

Attendees may visit AeroVironment in Booth 425.
