Miniature Airborne Communication Converter (MACC)
Eletter ProductThe Miniature Airborne Communication Converter (MACC) is one of three products from Excalibur's Miniature Ruggedized Product Line. It is user configurable and converts messages between the following protocols: MIL-STD-1553A/B, MIL-STD-1760, ARINC-429, Serial (RS232/422/485), Ethernet and up to 8 Discrete I/O's. The MACC has been tested to MIL-STD-704A/E, MIL-STD-1275B, MIL-STD-810G, MIL-STD-461E and is small, lightweight and rugged. Optional ingress protection is available for extreme environments
When converting between different specifications there are two separate conversion issues that the MACC must resolve. The first is the physical connection including wiring types, electrical specifications and physical encoding of data. The second is the values being transmitted.
The MACC handles all of these conversion issues. The physical issues are defined by the various specifications and handled automatically by the MACC. As far as converting the values, the user needs to provide the precise message formats, such as length, the placement of the data within the message and the data format.
These conversion settings are saved in a conversion profile. You can save multiple profiles in the profile database on the computer hosting the MACC Management Tool (MMT), but only one profile can be active on the MACC at any given time.
LONG RANGE 1553 Extender: MIL-STD-1553 has a maximum bus length of 100 meters. Increasingly, we see applications in which the Bus Controller of a system is located several kilometers from a Remote Terminal being controlled. Contact us to see how we can use multiple MACC's to extend the range.
