Re-winged A-10 Thunderbolt deployed to Air Force

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah. Air Force and Boeing officials unveiled the first of 233 re-winged A-10 Thunderbolt II during an event at Hill Air Force Base. Boeing is under contract with the Air Force to deliver 233 wing sets through 2018.

The wing sets are produced at Boeing’s production facility in Macon, Ga., along with officials from their partner company Korean Aerospace Industries.

The enhanced wing sets should extend the life of the A-10 aircraft through 2040, says Mark Bass, vice president and general manager for Maintenance, Modifications & Upgrades at Boeing Defense, Space & Security.
