EASA and European Commission to keynote Aviation Electronics Europe 2016

MUNICH, Germany. Gzim Ocakoglu, Policy Advisor, European Commission / DG MOVE and Friedhelm Runge, Avionics Expert, European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) have been announced as keynote speakers at the Aviation Electronics Europe conference and exhibition to be held April 20-21 in Munich, Germany at the MOC Event Center.

Gzim Ocakoglu is Policy Officer within the Unit E2 “Single European Sky” of Directorate-General Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) at the European Commission, in charge of the implementation of the "Interoperability" Regulation (Regulation No 552/2004), one of the four basic legal acts supporting the Single European Sky. His responsibilities include the implementation, follow-up and maintenance, in close cooperation with EASA and EUROCONTROL, of the adopted Interoperability Implementing Rules. They also include, in collaboration with the main stakeholders, the implementation of the ATM Master Plan, and notably the identification and programming of future standardization and regulatory needs.

According to the EASA website, Avionics and Electrical Systems covers flight control systems, displays, AWO, enhanced vision, navigation, communication, surveillance, software, airborne electronic hardware, lighting, HIRF, and cybersecurity. EASA is the European Union Authority for aviation safety. Its main activities include the strategy and safety management, the certification of aviation products and the oversight of approved organizations and EU Member States.
