SOUTH BEND, Ind. U.S. Army National Guard officials selected manufacturer of light tactical vehicles, AM General, to deliver 739 new M1152A1 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWVs) as a part of their modernization initiatives under a contract valued at $89 million.

The modernization enhancements for the new HMMWVs include improvements to the powertrain, suspension, cooling, and electrical systems. Delivery of this recent order of M1152A1 HMMWVs will begin in the third quarter of 2019, company officials say. The single cab, open cargo M1152A1 HMMWV variant is enhanced with Integrated Armor Protection, can serve as a troop or cargo transport vehicle, and is easily transportable by land, sea, or air.

This is in addition to the 740 new HMMWVs ordered in October 2018.
