Curtiss-Wright to upgrade USMC Amphibious Assault Vehicle with Cisco IOS-based Parvus solutions

PHOENIX, AZ. Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions announced at the Embedded Tech Trends conference that they have received a contract from Strategic Communications, LLC to supply its switch subsystems and rugged network routers to support the U.S. Marine Corps’ AAVC-7 Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV) upgrade.

Under the contract, Curtiss-Wright supplied its Cisco IOS-based Parvus DuraMAR 5915 router and Parvus DuraNET 30-2020 switch subsystems to Strategic Communications, under subcontract to Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC) from the U.S. Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR).

Curtiss-Wright’s space, weight, power, and cost (SWaP-C)-optimized line replaceable units (LRUs) enable network connectivity for the tactical communications equipment used onboard the AAVC-7 amphibious assault vehicles. Shipments began in October 2014 and were concluded at the end of the year.

Curtiss-Wright’s Parvus networking systems are currently installed on a previous generation of the U.S. Marine Corps’ AAVs. Under the upgrade program, Cisco IOS-based Parvus solutions will be installed on newer AAVs to provide enhanced, comprehensive security and networking features.
