Navy to use IXI Data I/O Converter to link radar, weapons and other systems over Ethernet

YORBA LINDA, Calif. U.S Navy tasked IXI Technology to provide its advanced Data I/O Converter system where it will convert information from the Naval Tactical Data System (NTDS) to fiber for the AN/SLQ-32(V) shipboard electronic warfare (EW) system. The EW system provides electronic support and countermeasure protection for U.S. and international navies.

As a component of the AN/SLQ-32(V) 6 system, IXI’s Data I/O Converter converts data from non-open architecture legacy systems to an open architecture Linux system via an Ethernet local area network (LAN). Verified and certified by the AEGIS certification authority for interface to the AEGIS Combat Management System, the device links radar, weapons, and other systems to Windows or UNIX/Linux-based computers over Ethernet. It enables freedom and flexibility when transferring data to systems that are not directly connected to the military I/O channels. The converter also enables real-time, communications and control without high-priced cable connections that often are associated with these systems.

The multi-year, firm-fixed price, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract is valued at $2.22 million.
