PARIS. Engineers at International Rectifier announced the release of the M3G120 Series of 40W radiation-hardened (RAD-Hard) 120V input DC-DC converters at the Nuclear Space Radiation Effects Conference (NSREC) in Paris this week. The products will support a variety of digital and analog satellite power systems requiring as long as 15 years or more of mission life such as space stations and NASA’s Orion MPCV (Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle) programs.

The M3G120 series was developed using a proven design methodology based on the legacy of the M3G Series. The design included a selection of reliable radiation performance components fully de-rated to NASA EEE-INST-002 and MIL-STD-1547B requirements. The DC-DC converters are available in single and dual output configurations and feature standard single output voltages of 3.3, 5, 12, 15, and 28V and dual output voltages of ±5V, ±12V and ±15V. Key features include total ionization dose (TID) of more than 200 krad (Si), single event effect (SEE) (Heavy Ions) with rated LET greater than 83 MeV-cm²/mg, integrated EMI filter, and light weight of less than 110g in a compact hermetic 3.5” x 2.5” x 0.475” package including I/O pins and mounting tabs.

The DC-DC converters also have 95V to 140V DC input, up to 160V input transients, input under-voltage protection, synchronization input/output and on/off control via converter’s Inhibit pin and Class K hybrid MIL-PRF-38534 qualified. Design analysis reports which include reliability analysis, components stress analysis, thermal analysis, radiation tests, and worst case analysis are available upon request.

Pricing for the M3G120 Series starts at $15,750 each in five-unit quantities. Production orders are available immediately. Prices are subject to change. This product is subject to U.S. export control laws and regulations.
