DMR connects to AN/PRC 155 via MUOS satellite

FAIRFAX, Va., General Dynamics completes test of Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellite communications. The built-in four-channel Digital Modular Radios (DMR) completed voice calls and data transmission to and from DMR to an Army AN/PRC-155 two-channel Manpack radio using the MUOS satellite and ground station simulators.

DMR radios are built using open architecture standards. They provide functionality and interoperability as they accommodate MOUS waveforms.

DMR is the first software-defined radio used in the U.S. Military. By being able to connect with narrow-band MUOS satellite network, DMR requires little hardware change and becomes cost-effective for the military.
