Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency?s (DARPA) engineers completed cross-program testing under the agency?s Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Continuous Trail Unmanned Vessel (ACTUV) and the Towed Airborne Lift of Naval Systems (TALONS) programs. Engineers demonstrated a prototype of an elevated sensor mast developed through the TALONS research effort onboard the ACTUV vessel.

Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) officials announced it's Aerial Dragnet program, which aims to seek innovative technologies to provide persistent, wide-area surveillance of all unmanned aerial systems (UAS) - including small UAS - operating below 1,000 feet in a large city. The focus on the program is to protect military troops operating in an urban setting, the program has the potential to find civilian application to help protect U.S. metropolitan areas from UAS-enabled terrorist threats.
