Dream Chaser undergoes captive carry test - News

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. The Dream Chaser -- a reusable automated cargo lifting-body spaceplane being developed by Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) Space Systems -- underwent a captive carry test at NASA?s Armstrong Flight Research Center at Edwards AFB on August 30. The test was part of the spacecraft?s Phase Two flight test efforts to advance the orbiter closer to space flight, according to a press release from SNC.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. Officials at Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) and ITT Exelis have joined hands to build a manned aircraft-based Wide-Area Airborne Persistent Surveillance (WAPS) system, dubbed Vigilant Stare. It is inspired by a similar U.S. Air Force system.

SPARKS, Nev. U.S. Army officials tasked engineers at Sierra Nevada Corp. (SNC) to produce ten Mobile Tower Systems (MOTS), and engineering and logistics services under a $56 million contract. AN/MSQ-135 MOTS is slated to replace the Army AN/TSW-7A Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower.
