IARPA launches plan to build 3-D models using satellite imagery - News

WASHINGTON. The Intelligence Advanced Research Projects Activity (IARPA) -- which operates within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence -- announced the establishment of a multiyear research plan to build 3-D models that leverage satellite imagery aimed at supporting U.S. military, intelligence, and humanitarian missions.

Aitech Rugged Group, Inc., which designs embedded computing systems for military air and ground systems as well as radiation-hardened solutions for the military and commercial space markets, was acquired by FIMI Opportunity Funds, a private equity firm based in Israel for $30 million.

The U.S. Navy has awarded Alion Science and Technology -- a technology solutions company based in Tysons Corner, Virginia -- an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (ID/IQ), cost-plus-fixed-fee, multiple-award contract that could ultimately total as much as $34 million to provide the Navy with worldwide communications and media support services.

The U.S. State Department has made a determination approving a possible foreign military sale of King Air 350ER intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft to Kuwait for an estimated cost of $259 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale.

U.S. Air Force (USAF) officials selected UTC Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp., for an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract to deliver the DB-110 Airborne Reconnaissance System. The contract has an initial ceiling value of $22.9 million. The acquisition supports requests for the DB-110 system from multiple countries via the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.
