Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co. is the recipient of a not-to-exceed $2,023,590,000 Undefinitized Contract Action (UCA) under the already-awarded-to-Lockheed production contract for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD). The contract stipulates that Lockheed Martin provides at least 42 of its Lots 3 and 4 THAAD interceptors. However, the DoD will add this procurement to the United Arab Emirates Foreign Military Sales 96-interceptor procurement provided as a separate UCA. The union of the orders means “synergy cost savings” will occur, according to the DoD website. The combined procurement covers at least 138 of the interceptors.

Contract work began this month and is anticipated to run through July 2018, with initial work performed in Sunnyvale, California and Troy, Alabama-based final assembly.

The UCA’s definitization is expected on or before Nov. 30, 2012.

The contracting activity is the THAAD Program Office of the Missile Defense Agency.
