WASHINGTON. At the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), Lockheed Martin announced their latest capability, ICARUS, which detects and identifies small Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).

It can disable onboard capabilities and minimize collateral damage by taking manual control of the unit and moving it to a safe area. ICARUS uses multi-spectral sensor technology to detect and identify group 1 and 2 UAS systems. It combines cyber electromagnetic activity experience with sensor technology and non-kinetic techniques.

“The U.S. government is seeing an increase in the use of commercially available UAS platforms for surveillance and weaponization,” said Deon Viergutz, vice president of Cyber Solutions for Lockheed Martin.
