Safety-certifiable COTS modules released by Curtiss-Wright

ASHBURN, Va. Engineers at Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions released a new family of DO-254 DAL C and DO-178C DAL C safety-certifiable standard commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) processing modules targeted at military and civil aerospace applications. Curtiss-Wright engineers designed the Safety Certifiable COTS modules as an alternative to expensive custom designs.

The new family of select DO-254 DAL C and DO-178C DAL C certifiable products have the design artifact packages necessary for supporting certification. The first members of the product family are the VPX3-150 3U VPX single board computer (SBC) and VPX3-718 3U VPX graphics card.

Curtiss-Wright engineers launched the company's this family with the introduction of two new SWaP-C (space/weight/power/cost)-optimized COTS modules, the VPX3-150 SBC and the VPX3-718 graphics display module. Both modules are rugged, small-form factor 3U VPX modules. They are designed using a development process that results in a DO-254 Design Assurance Level (DAL) C certifiable product and supporting artifacts.
