U.S. Army chooses Rockwell Collins to assess technologies for FVL systems

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. The U.S. Army has selected Rockwell Collins to conduct collaborative studies on advanced system designs and integration processes for the Architecture Implementation Process Demonstration (AIPD).

As a part of the Joint Multirole (JMR) Mission Systems Architecture Demonstration (MSAD) Science and Technology effort, this AIPD is informing standards, processes, tools and architectures for the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) family of military vertical-lift aircraft systems. The FVL program aims to develop five different sizes of vertical-lift aircraft for the U.S. Armed Forces, all of which will share common hardware such as sensors, avionics, engines, and countermeasures.

Rockwell Collins and the Army are set to investigate the advanced open-system architecture technologies and  model-based engineering capabilities necessary to cost-effectively design and certify future mission equipment packages (MEPs).
